About us
The Foundation began as a result of a resolution of the Board of Governors to serve as a support for the Hospital through the accrual of bequests, gifts, donations and fundraising, with the long term objective of endowing the Hospital for this and future generations.
Our patron
The official launch of the Foundation was on St Andrew’s Day, 30 November 2000 by The Honorable Dr Basil Hetzel AC, one of Australia’s "living national treasures" and our inaugural Patron.
Our objective
The principal objective of the Foundation is to provide St Andrew's Hospital with a meaningful and permanent source of funds over time. The funds enable the hospital to maintain state of the art equipment and facilities, provide specialised staff education and training, and to foster research activities.
Since launching, progress has been steady with the capital fund standing at approximately $1.3 million. Whilst this has enabled it to provide moderate support, it still needs strong ongoing support before the principal aims can be achieved.
It is important to the Board and management of the Hospital that St Andrew's continues in leading the way in medical education and training with the highest standards of medical and surgical care.
Donations and fundraising
The Foundation provides an essential link between the hospital and individual donors, corporate and business sector supporters, community groups, sponsors and those wishing to leave a bequest or gift in their will.
As well as organising fundraising events and coordinating the volunteers who operate the coffee shop, the Foundation is the focal point for donors, friends and volunteers who lend their invaluable support.
Our ability to fund additional projects is directly dependent upon our fundraising success in building the Foundation’s capital.
